Preparing Asia for Advanced AI: A Scenario Exercise on Jobs, Growth and Resilience

Across Asia, the AI conversation has largely focused on adoption. Less attention has been given to how increasingly capable AI could reshape labour markets, growth, and public finances over the next decade, particularly in a region where service-export work is among the most exposed globally.

This working session will move beyond a traditional panel format. Participants will be taken inside a plausible five-year AI scenario and asked to consider how they would respond: which policy choices hold up across different futures, where preparedness is thinnest, and what their own institution would need to decide first. The scenario-based method has previously been used with the IMF, national governments, and city leaders.
